Coming Soon – Changes to the RDS Reconsideration and Reopening Processes

In the coming weeks, CMS’ RDS Center will implement updates to the RDS Secure Website to streamline the process of submitting requests for Reconsiderations and Reopenings.

Important: Your rights as a Plan Sponsor participating in the RDS Program are not changing.

RDS Plan Sponsors have the right to request Reconsiderations and Reopenings for various types of RDS Program determinations in accordance with Federal regulations at 42 C.F.R. § 423.890. The RDS Secure Website will be enhanced so that Reconsiderations and Reopenings can be requested directly from the Actions dropdown menu found on the RDS Secure Website Manage Plan Sponsor Account page.

New RDS Secure Website page text and system messages will provide updated guidance to ensure that Plan Sponsors understand the difference between Reconsiderations and Reopenings and can pursue the best available option in the event of a missed application deadline, missed Reconciliation deadline, or determination resulting from a Reconciliation completed based on inaccurate or incomplete data.

To ensure a smooth transition for Plan Sponsors, educational materials published on the RDS Public Website, Common Questions, and related topics in the RDS User Guide will also be updated to coincide with this enhancement.

More information about this change will be provided to the RDS Plan Sponsor community as details become available. Please continue to monitor the RDS Public Website and My RDS Email for updates. Thank you for your continued participation in the RDS Program.
